National context

Interstate and Commonwealth disaster coordination at the government level runs through the Australian Government Crisis Management Framework and COMDISPLAN (the Australian Government Disaster Response Plan), both administered by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). WICEN WA’s interstate liaison with other WICEN entities is a separate, amateur-radio-level relationship — it doesn’t plug into COMDISPLAN directly — but it’s worth the committee understanding the government-level mechanism this domain sits alongside, particularly if WICEN WA is ever asked to support a Commonwealth-coordinated response.
